About SideTracked Caches
This cache belongs to the SideTracked series. It is not designed to take you to a magical place with a breath taking view. It's a distraction for the weary traveller, but anyone else can go and find it too. More Information can be found at the SideTracked Website
About Midlunga
Midlunga Railway Station sits on the historic Outer Harbor line, one of South Australia’s oldest and most significant rail corridors.
- The Outer Harbor railway line first opened in 1856, linking Adelaide to Port Adelaide and forming one of Australia’s earliest railways.
- The extension through to Outer Harbor was completed in 1915, strengthening access to the coastline and port facilities.
- Midlunga station opened in 1926, serving the small but growing coastal community and nearby holidaymakers seeking an easy escape from the city.
Unlike some of its more industrial neighbours, Midlunga has always had a quieter personality—more about seaside living than shipyards and steel. Yet it shares the same rails, the same lineage, and the same steady connection between city and coast.
Stand here and you may notice how the trains feel almost like visitors themselves, arriving briefly before slipping away again, leaving only the hum of the line behind.
