About SideTracked Caches

This cache belongs to the SideTracked series. It is not designed to take you to a magical place with a breath taking view. It's a distraction for the weary traveller, but anyone else can go and find it too. More Information can be found at the SideTracked Website

About Largs North

Largs North Railway Station sits on the historic Outer Harbor line, one of South Australia’s oldest and most significant rail corridors.

  • The Outer Harbor railway line first opened in 1856, linking Adelaide to Port Adelaide and forming one of Australia’s earliest railways.
  • The extension through to Outer Harbor was completed in 1915, creating a direct connection to the harbour and coastline.
  • Largs North station opened in 1915, as part of that extension, serving the growing coastal communities and workers connected to the nearby port and industry.

The suburb of Largs North continues the naming tradition of nearby Largs, ultimately linked to the Scottish coastal region along the Firth of Clyde, reflecting the strong maritime and cultural heritage of the area.

Today, the station is a quiet but important stop, used by commuters and visitors alike as they travel toward the end of the line at Outer Harbor.

Stand here and you’ll notice the feeling of nearing a journey’s end—the trains pause briefly before continuing on, as if taking one last breath before the final stretch.
