Geocache Description:

Little Bridges 3339

A Gert Biggun

Old Bratton Road 'N' Back #24

A lot of local caching history to unpack here that some of you may find interesting: this is not the first Little Bridges cache to be placed here, the original cache was placed by billiethecat on 12th August 2012 as Little Bridges #90. The cache was part of the now retired Westbury Wandering cache series, which got me started Geocaching ten years ago. Westbury Wandering was active from 2012 to 2018; this cache stayed as a solo cache after the series was retired. 95% of the route used for Westbury Wandering is now home to the Old Bratton Road 'N' Back series (owned by nathbrown54), which brought more traction back to this cache. In fact, there was once a plan for Nathan to adopt the original Little Bridges cache and incorperate it into his OBR series. However, this plan never came to fruition and Little Bridges 90 was sadly archived in 2025 after going missing.

Fast forward to the current day, I wanted to place a cache here to not only fill in a gap in the OBR series, but bring cachers back to this Little Bridge. The bridge is a bit out of the way for anyone wanting to find the cache who has already completed the loop, so I knew I had to come up with something special for this sucluded spot and remembered a container I had sat in the rafters of my garage that I have wanted to revive, and immediately realised this would be the perfect spot. Some of you may remember a cache I had along my Biss Brook series called Little Bridges Lamberts Marsh, which I had to retire early because of the unsuitable location. Many cachers who visited enjoyed the container so I kept it to redeploy at a later date.

KieranVC15 and I carried this container through the fields, and some rain, to its new home. I quickly realised apon arriving that my original plan to place the cache under the bridge wasn't going to work because of its size, so I placed it just off the public footpath in a small woodland.

Please bring along any large geocache trades you have, there's plenty of trinkets to go around! Please attach pictures of yourselves at/with the cache, I enjoy seeing every cacher's experience finding the cache.

Accessibility

The cache is neither wheelchair or pushchair accessible unfortunately.

The Little Bridges series was started by Stanthews in 2009 to highlight small footbridges in remote parts of Wiltshire. Since then the series has been expanded by others all over the country and starting to spread fast. There is a stats listing, so you can see how many Little Bridges you have found, you can find it here:- www.littlebridgesseries.co.uk . If you would like to add to the series, please contact Stan via the Little Bridges website with your caching name, name of your Little Bridge and the GC code and he will give you a number for your bridge. To qualify, the bridge must be a foot bridge too small for vehicles, please make sure your title exactly matches "Little Bridges # xxxx then the name" including spaces so it will get picked up and added to stats list.
