Geocache Description:

Cache is not at the posted coordinates. There is a puzzle to solve first.

The fifty-second in a series of puzzle caches with the common theme being that they are all situated "Inside No. 9". The Chiltern Society's Footpath Map No . 9 that is - what else could that mean?!

The Puzzle

In the dim hush of a candlelit chapel, the faithful often find their thoughts drifting across the long and curious history of sacred objects. The Holy Grail1, whispered to be the cup used at the Last Supper, has inspired centuries of devotion and legend. Nearby in tradition, the Pillar of Flagellation2 recalls the suffering endured before the Crucifixion.

Completing this quiet litany is the Spear of Longinus3, often entwined in both faith and folklore, its story echoing through time. The Veil of Veronica4 is said to bear the miraculous imprint of Christ’s face, a quiet testament to compassion amid suffering.

The enduring symbol of sacrifice, the True Cross5, remains one of the most venerated relics in Christendom, its fragments dispersed yet revered across the world. Pilgrims and scholars alike have also pondered the significance of the Holy Lance6, believed to have pierced Christ’s side, and the mysterious Image of Edessa, an acheiropoieton—an image not made by human hands. The True Cross relic is also known by its Latin name, Sancta Crux7.

Together, these relics form not just a tapestry of belief, but an intricate thread of history, mystery, and meaning—each one inviting a closer look, and perhaps, a deeper understanding.

To locate the Bones of St. Nicholas (field puzzle) which will guide you to the relic (the cache) enter the word you have found into Certitude and follow the instructions provided.

You can validate your puzzle solution with certitude.

Whilst the CO is a fan of the source material he appreciates that it is not everyone's cup of tea. There should therefore be no need to watch any episodes in order to solve the puzzles in this series, but it might help!

Congratulations to AplusBminusC for the FTF!
