Hangwell Law
Hangwell Law trig pillar sits at a height of 212 metres on a ridge of high ground just west of the A1. It has very good views to the Northeast towards Bamburgh. Today it sits on the edge of the Middlemoor wind farm opened in 2013. The pillar, painted white, is very close to – and dwarfed by – one of the wind turbines. The pillar was constructed in 1945. The pillar location is N55 30.828 W001 48.300 and you can see it from the cache location.
Access: there is a public right of way from the small road to the south, through the forest plantation to a track within the wind farm (Access Land). However, this is blocked by fallen trees and damaged fences and is very hard work. Better to access through the Access Land just to the west and south of the pillar.

Ye Ole Survey Monument (YOSM) is a captivating series of caches that pays homage to the remarkable legacy of OutForTheHunt's YSM series (GC45CC).
YOSM caches are strategically positioned at or near Trig Points. These triangulation stations have played a pivotal role as surveying landmarks, contributing to the mapping of expansive territories.
Some of these points, bearing historical significance, might now be situated on private land or have vanished with time. As a result, the caches are artfully placed in close proximity, reverently acknowledging the historical importance of these survey monuments.
