Le lycée ne porte pas son nom par hasard. Son histoire est indissociable de celle des Aciéries d'Ugine.

1. L'origine industrielle : À l'origine, le site n'était pas un lycée public mais une école technique privée créée par l'usine (la société SECEMAEU, devenue plus tard Ugitech). L'objectif était de former sur place une main-d'œuvre hautement qualifiée pour répondre aux besoins technologiques de la production d'acier spécial.
2.  L'évolution : Au fil des décennies, l'école s'est ouverte et transformée. Elle est devenue un lycée nationalisé, mais elle a conservé cette identité forte liée aux sciences, à la technique et à l'innovation.
3.  Aujourd'hui : Le lycée René Perrin est un pôle d'enseignement général et technologique majeur dans la région, reconnu notamment pour ses filières techniques qui perpétuent le savoir-faire industriel de la vallée.

👨‍ Qui était René Perrin (1893 - 1966) ?
René Perrin n'était pas un homme politique, mais un scientifique et un inventeur de génie.

1.  Le polytechnicien : Ingénieur de l'École Polytechnique, il rejoint les Aciéries d'Ugine en 1920.
2.  Le procédé Ugine-Perrin : Il est mondialement connu pour avoir inventé un procédé révolutionnaire de fabrication de l'acier (le fameux procédé Ugine-Perrin). Cette technique permettait de purifier l'acier beaucoup plus rapidement grâce à un brassage rapide avec des laitiers fondus.
3.  Un visionnaire : Sous sa direction, l'usine d'Ugine est devenue un leader mondial des aciers inoxydables. Il a été directeur général puis président de la société, marquant durablement l'économie de la Savoie.

3.  A Visionary Leader: Under his guidance, the Ugine plant became a world leader in stainless steel. He served as General Manager and later President, leaving a lasting mark on the economy of the Savoy region.
