About Potts Hill Branch Line and its stations
This station was at the end of a 1.0 km line which serviced the Potts Hill Pumping Station and Reservoir Number 2. Nearby you will see the depot for the reservoir The line was opened on 11 November 1912 and closed on 27 April 1966 after which the tracks were lifted.
The line left the Lidcombe to Cabramatta line just to the north of Regents Park Station and serviced the staff of the pumping station. The Pumping Station is on the northern side of the greyhound track and parking is limited.. Funding was from the Water Board but run by the NSW Government Railways. The last trains ran in 1965 after which the rails were lifted and moved to the Loftus Tram Museum.
