Meet at the golden statue of Thomas Paine in the town centre of Thetford to chat about all things geocaching and celebrate 250 years of the USA where this local folk helped to shape the new nation. 

Thomas Paine, one of the Founding Fathers of the United States was born in Thetford in 1737, son of a local farmer. He wrote 'The Common Sense' pamphlet arguing the case for the 13 Colonies in America to break away from the British Crown and become an Independent sovereign country. He also wrote 'The Rights of Man' during the French Revolution but late in life he was critical of George Washington, the first President.
