If you have the opportunity to depart from, arrive at, or have a layover of more than 1 hours at Shanghai South Railway Station, there is a mystery cache waiting for you to find.
This geocache is NOT LOCATED at the posted coordinates. You will need to solve the puzzle to find the final location, which is outside the railway station.

Shanghai South Railway Station is located in the southwestern part of Xuhui District, Shanghai. As a vital component of the Shanghai railway hub, it has long been regarded as the "Southern Gateway" to the city's land transportation. Viewed from above, the station's main structure presents a massive circular steel form, resembling a "flying saucer" perched within the urban fabric. Its design carries the symbolic meaning of "wheels rolling forward, advancing with the times." The station's most unforgettable architectural hallmark is that it is the world's first domed, daylight-transmitting railway station. The station building covers an area of approximately 56,000 square meters, features a yard layout with 6 platforms and 13 tracks, and is seamlessly integrated with Metro Lines 1, 3, and 15, as well as the South Long-Distance Bus Station. Together, they form a large-scale, three-dimensional comprehensive interchange hub that brings together multiple modes of transport.
The station's role in Shanghai's railway landscape has undergone several transformations. In the late 1990s, in response to mounting passenger transport pressure, the original Shanghai South Railway Station was constructed and initially completed and put into operation by the end of 1999. Entering the new century, the station launched a large-scale reconstruction in 2002 and officially opened with a brand-new look on July 1, 2006. For a long period thereafter, it stood as one of the three pillars alongside Shanghai Railway Station and Hongqiao Station, handling the vast demand for passenger rail transport in southern Shanghai. However, with adjustments to the railway network layout, Shanghai South Railway Station once mainly handled conventional trains and some short-distance high-speed trains. It was not until January 5, 2025, with the full operation of the Shanghai–Suzhou–Huzhou High-Speed Railway, that Shanghai South Railway Station finally dispatched its first high-speed train, officially ushering in the long-awaited "high-speed rail era." Then, after July 1 of the same year, it bid farewell to conventional trains entirely, completing its metamorphosis from a traditional conventional passenger station into a modern high-speed rail hub.

In the very center of the railway station, on the ground, you can see a coordinate. What does this mean?

Something you should know before geocaching in China
Due to China's national surveying and mapping regulations, all public maps in China adopt the GCJ-02 coordinate system, which has a 300-500 meter deviation from the internationally recognized WGS-84 coordinate system. This means the displayed locations on official apps' Google Maps/satellite views are inaccurate. However, OpenStreetMap or your GPS device remains reliable.
