This is a challenge cache and is NOT at the posted coordinates.
It is part of a series of caches to celebrate achievements (aka, challenge requirements) in a variety of aspects of geocaching. As such, it will be a rare geocacher who qualifies for all challenges in the series. The series is not meant to be a quick power trail. Variety is a key theme, both in hides and challenges. The D rating is based on the difficulty in completing the challenge. The T rating is based on the terrain of the actual hide. Bring along your toolkit and certainly a writing stick. Most importantly, be careful and have fun!
If you are relatively new to the game then pick out one (or a few) that interest you and keep the requirements in mind when you plan your next caching trip.
To claim a Find, you must meet the requirements below and sign the physical log. When you accomplish one task, feel free to leave a Note until the other task is complete. The actual coordinates for the container are listed in the Additional Waypoints.
*** The requirements for this challenge are as follows ***
Electoral College Challenge
Here is your Civics lesson. Earn at least 270 Electoral College votes to win. To earn votes from a state, find any cache in that state with at least a 2/2 rating for Difficulty/Terrain. For purposes of this challenge, all states are "winner take all". For example, finding a 2.5/2 Letterbox in Texas would earn you Texas' 40 Electoral College votes.
These are the current electoral college votes (listed alphabetically by state): Alabama-9, Alaska-3, Arizona-11, Arkansas-6, California-54, Colorado-10, Connecticut-7, Delaware-3, District of Columbia-3, Florida-30, Georgia-16, Hawaii-4, Idaho-4, Illinois-19, Indiana-11, Iowa-6, Kansas-6, Kentucky-8, Louisiana-8, Maine-4, Maryland-10, Massachusetts-11, Michigan-15, Minnesota-10, Mississippi-6, Missouri-10, Montana-4, Nebraska-5, Nevada-6, New Hampshire-4, New Jersey-14, New Mexico-5, New York-28, North Carolina-16, North Dakota-3, Ohio-17, Oklahoma-7, Oregon-8, Pennsylvania-19, Rhode Island-4, South Carolina-9, South Dakota-3, Tennessee-11, Texas-40, Utah-6, Vermont-3, Virginia-13, Washington-12, West Virginia-4, Wisconsin-10, Wyoming-3.
The Rules:
- Any cache in the U.S. counts as long as it has at least a 2 rating for both Difficulty and Terrain.
- Any posted "Found It" logs that do not meet the requirements of this challenge will be deleted.
- If you have not met the requirements of this challenge, you may visit the cache, sign the log book and post a note on this page. When you have met the requirements of the challenge, you may then post a "Found It" log without having to revisit the cache.
- Post proof that you have completed the challenge anyway you want. A Project GC Checker is available.
