Another cache in Kiwimykl's Marlborough School Bus Shelter series. This bus shelter shows the changing demographic of the rural population. My first School Bus Shelter cache was GC6R388 - Long Valley Shelter located just 8.1 km up the road towards Nelson which was placed from 28 August 2016 until 28 December 2025. The last School Bus Shelter I placed was GCBM680 - Leslie Road School Bus Shelter located 6.4 km back along the road towards Blenheim and was placed on 24 March 2026.
Obviously, the children of Long Valley have grown up and no longer need the school bus to stop, but there are now school aged children at Okaramio, both here at Kennigtons Road and also at Leslies Road, that do need the school bus to stop.
These shelters are constructed under the TotalSpan Undercover Kids program which is a community initiative that provides rugged, New Zealand-made steel bus shelters to rural schools and communities. They keep children safe and dry while waiting for school transport. Over 500 units have been placed around the county.
This is a QEF park and grab best done during the part of the day when the school bus is not around. I place all these format caches in the same place, so if you've found one before, you have a head start, if not, future finds will be easier. The hint may not be that helpful in narrowing down the cache location.
