Geocache Description:

The Wizarding World Geocache Series

"Upon the signature of the International Statute of Secrecy in 1689, wizards went into hiding for good. It was natural, perhaps, that they formed their own small communities within a community."

— The secrecy surrounding the wizarding world

The Wizarding World, also referred to as the magical community, is the society in which wizards and witches live and interact, separate from non-wizarding society. The two communities are kept separate through the use of charms, spells, and secrecy. Wizards and witches are forbidden to reveal anything about magic to Muggle society due to the International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy, but that does not mean that the two worlds live entirely apart.

Welcome to Hogsmeade

"We think we saw an ogre, honestly, they get all sorts at the Three Broomsticks —"

— The varied clientele at the Three Broomsticks

The Three Broomsticks Inn (established 1452) is a popular inn and pub in the all wizarding village of Hogsmeade, which is often frequented by students from the neighbouring Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The inn is often warm, crowded, and a bit smoky, but clean and welcoming.

A mirror behind the bar reflects the cosy atmosphere, and popular drinks such as Butterbeer and Firewhisky are served in glasses and in foaming pewter tankards, as well as gillywater, Mulled Mead, red currant rum, and even cherry syrup and soda with ice and an umbrella. The Three Broomsticks was owned and operated by Sirona Ryan in the late 19th century and by Madam Rosmerta in the late 20th century and early 21st century.
