Bubbles in the Breeze
It was the kind of morning that felt like it had been painted, soft sun, warm colours and a playground humming with the happy chaos of children at play. The wooden climbing frame creaked with adventure, the slide gleamed like a ribbon of sunshine, and the swings cut smooth arcs through the air.
The bubbles though, were the real magic. A little girl stood at one end of the playground, blowing a stream of shimmering bubbles into the air. They drifted upward like tiny glass planets, catching the light in blues, pinks and golds. Every child in the playground noticed them, even if only for a heartbeat.
Two children in the sandbox paused to watch as they floated past, settling gently on the tip of a plastic shovel before bursting with a soft pop. A boy on the swing reached out with his toes, trying to tap one as it soared past. Even the children on the at the top of the slide glanced over, as if the bubbles were calling them to look.
Some of them drifted toward the museum in the distance, not following any rules, as though curious about the stories inside. Others hovered low over the grass, wobbling like they were deciding whether to land. A few started drifting up higher, until they were just glimmers against the sky.
The girl blowing them smiled quietly. She didn’t need to run or shout or climb today. Her joy was in watching how and where the bubbles chose to go, smiling as each one carried a tiny moment of wonder to someone else.
