About St Ives
St Ives, a leafy Upper North Shore suburb of Sydney, evolved from early timber-getting and orcharding (1850s) into a prosperous residential area. Named around 1885/1900, likely after politician Isaac Ellis Ives, it was formerly known as 'Paddy’s Forest'. It remained rural with Italian-led farms until post-WWII, transforming into a residential suburb from 1959.
