A Winter Walk
Minnamurra Rainforest
Sunday 28th June 2026

Geocaching NSW would like to invite all geocachers to attend our 2026 Winter Walk at Minnamurra Rainforest in the Budderoo National Park (Kiama LGA).
We will start the event with an informal gathering providing the opportunity to meet and make new friends with a common interest, share stories about your latest caching adventure, swap travel bugs and geocoins or maybe pick up a hint on puzzles and DNFs.
This will be followed by a walk along defined trails into the temperate rainforest, getting out among nature in a scenic location and maybe even grab a smiley or two along the way.
Date: Sunday 28th June, 2026.
Event Begins: 10:00am at the picnic area adjacent to the Visitors Centre. There is no obligation to undertake all or part of the actual walk however those keen can set off as a group around 10.30am.
Getting There: Once on Jamberoo Road, turn left or right, depending on your direction of travel, on to Minnamurra Falls Road (see carpool reference point). You'll then find the posted event coordinates around 3km at the end of the road.
Parking: There is plenty of parking near the Visitors Centre at the start of the walk.
Note: unless you hold a NSW National Parks Pass, there is a $12 per car fee. However, you can park outside the gates and walk in or arrange to meet fellow cachers at the suggested reference point and carpool to share the cost.
Cost: There is no cost to attend the actual event.
What to Bring: Please wear appropriate footwear/clothing for the terrain and weather and BYO personal food/drink for the walk, though there is a cafe and picnic area with BBQs on site where you can again gather at the completion of the walk if you wish to socialise a little longer.
The Walk: There are two walk options available departing from the same posted location and at the same time.
Lyrebird Loop: 1.6km easy loop along a suspended path with the first 500m suitable for wheelchairs. This loop also includes a Virtual Cache (GC9P511) and takes around 45min to an hour.
Falls Walk: Diverting off the Loop Track approximately half way, those keen for a longer walk and wanting to tick off an Earthcache (GC67M6M) can continue. The extended option is an extra 2.6km return hike and is steep in sections though has a number of seated rest areas along the way. Allow up to 2 hours for the complete walk.

Photo: A group photo will be taken during the event (possibly at the turn off point to the longer walk).
Dogs: Unfortunately, being a National Park, geopups are not permitted in this part of the world.
Please post your "Will Attend" to receive announcements about this event.
Here's hoping you can come along and help make the day an enjoyable social geo-gathering. Muggles welcome!
Cheers,
Geocaching NSW Committee
