🇩🇪 Der Pteranodon longiceps bedeutet übersetzt "langköpfiger zahnloser Flügel". Er lebte vor etwa 86–84 Millionen Jahren in der späten Kreidezeit. Er ernährte sich hauptsächlich von Fisch und lebte in Küstenregionen, vor allem im Gebiet von Kansas der heutigen USA. Mit seiner großen Flügelspannweite von bis zu 6 Metern segelte er wie ein Albatros durch die Luft. Die Flügel waren vermutlich an seinen Oberschenkeln angewachsen. Er selbst war wegen seiner Hohlknochen sehr leicht und wog nur 16kg. Wenn der Greifensee ein Ozean wäre, hätte sich Pteranodon longiceps dort wahrscheinlich sehr wohlgefühlt. Wenn Regen aufkommt und starker Wind den Greifensee wie das Meer aufwühlt, kann man der Fantasie freien Lauf lassen. Stell dir das mal vor: Flugsaurier über dem Greifensee.

🇬🇧 The name Pteranodon longiceps translates to "long-headed toothless wing." It lived approximately 86–84 million years ago during the Late Cretaceous period. It fed primarily on fish and inhabited coastal regions, especially in what is now Kansas, USA. With its large wingspan of up to 6 meters, it soared through the air like an albatross. Its wings were likely attached to its thighs. Due to its hollow bones, it was very light, weighing only 16 kg. If Lake Greifensee were an ocean, Pteranodon longiceps would probably have felt right at home. When rain arrives and strong winds churn Lake Greifensee like the sea, you can let your imagination run wild. Just imagine: a pterosaur soaring over Lake Greifensee.
