Geocache Description:

These green and red pipes at Mogalakwena Mine usually form part of the mine’s water or slurry pipeline network. Large open-pit mines like Mogalakwena rely on long HDPE, or high-density polyethylene, pipelines to transport process water, which is the dirty water used in ore processing, along with tailings slurry made of fine crushed rock mixed with water. They also use these pipelines to move pit dewatering water that is pumped out to keep the pit dry, and sometimes to circulate treated or recycled water between plants and storage dams.

This cache is located at a bridge which these pipes pass.

I’m Charles, born and raised in Mokopane, with a passion for showcasing the beauty, history, and hidden gems of my hometown and the greater Limpopo region. I noticed that Limpopo has relatively few geocaches, so this initiative is part of my journey to create more opportunities for exploration and discovery. I hope you enjoy these geocaches while learning more about my area and the unique experiences it has to offer.
