Nel cuore di Bergamo, tra le Mura Veneziane e alcuni scorci panoramici, si trova l’Orto Botanico di Bergamo “Lorenzo Rota”. È un museo civico in cui non sono esposti oggetti, ma piante che crescono e cambiano con le stagioni. L’orto si occupa di coltivare, conservare e valorizzare le collezioni vegetali, svolgendo anche attività di ricerca e divulgazione per la comunità.
La visita invita a rallentare e osservare l’ambiente. Durante l’anno vengono organizzate attività come mostre, visite guidate e laboratori per bambini e adulti, che rendono l’esperienza più partecipata.
Dal 1972 l’Orto Botanico di Città Alta “Finestra sul Paesaggio” si è sviluppato in diverse aree tematiche, con ambienti ricostruiti, una serra e percorsi che attraversano spazi diversi. La sua posizione permette anche di vedere la città bassa e le Prealpi Orobie.
Un’altra sede è l’Orto di Astino, chiamato “La Valle della Biodiversità”, dove si coltivano molte specie di piante alimentari. È uno spazio dedicato allo studio della biodiversità e al rapporto tra agricoltura e sostenibilità.
L’Orto Botanico è aperto a chiunque voglia conoscerlo: visitatori curiosi, famiglie o persone interessate alla natura. È un luogo pensato per osservare, imparare e conoscere le piante da vicino.

In the heart of Bergamo, between the Venetian Walls and scenic viewpoints, lies the Bergamo Botanical Garden “Lorenzo Rota”. It is a civic museum where, instead of objects, there are living plants that grow and change with the seasons. The garden is dedicated to cultivating, preserving, and enhancing plant collections, as well as carrying out research and educational activities for the community.
A visit encourages people to slow down and observe the environment. Throughout the year, events such as exhibitions, guided tours, and workshops for children and adults are organized, making the experience more engaging.
Since 1972, the Upper Town Botanical Garden “Finestra sul Paesaggio” has developed into several thematic areas, with carefully recreated natural habitats, a greenhouse, and paths that cross different environments. Its location also offers views of the lower city and the Prealps of the Bergamo Alps.
Another site is the Astino Botanical Garden, known as “The Valley of Biodiversity”, where many species of food plants are cultivated. It is a space dedicated to studying biodiversity and exploring the relationship between agriculture and sustainability.
