About Simei MRT Station
Simei MRT station (EW3) is an elevated station on the East–West Line in Singapore, located at 30 Simei Street 3 between Tanah Merah and Tampines. Opened on 5 November 1989 as part of the extension towards Pasir Ris, it serves the local neighbourhood and is within walking distance of Eastpoint Mall, Changkat Primary School, and Changkat Changi Secondary School.
The Four Beauties
The name Simei translates to "four beauties" in Mandarin (四美). It refers to the four main streets in the neighbourhood named after famous ancient Chinese women:
- Xi Shi (西施)
- Wang Zhaojun (王昭君)
- Diaochan (貂蝉)
- Yang Guifei (杨贵妃)
With Eastpoint Mall and surrounding shops right beside the station connected by covered walkways, Simei is a convenient stop for residents, commuters, and geocachers exploring the eastern part of Singapore!
