Geocache Description:

You know that feeling…
that little drop in your stomach as you roll over it…
like a mini rollercoaster you weren’t expecting

That’s the Towradgi Hump 😄

The Towradgi Hump is one of the Illawarra’s most unexpected local icons. What looks like a simple rise has somehow built a reputation way bigger than itself.

Must say… it’s got its own documentary, its own song, has been featured on multiple local radio stations, and even has its own place on Google Maps. Not bad for a hump.

That feeling comes from a small bridge on Towradgi Road that passes over the South Coast train line near Towradgi station. It’s this short, steep rise that gives the Hump its name, and if you hit it with a bit of speed, you get that quick stomach-drop feeling everyone talks about.

What makes this one different isn’t some big history, it’s what it became. Over time locals noticed it, talked about it, and shared it around. It turned into one of those “you have to go over it” spots. People try it, laugh about it, then send their mates to do the same. From there it took on a life of its own and became part of local culture.

The cache is hidden somewhere around this legendary spot. It’s a straightforward find, nothing over the top, just a fun reason to visit one of Wollongong’s most random but well-known landmarks.

Not all landmarks are massive cliffs or big lookouts. Some are just simple things people connect with and keep talking about… and somehow end up with their own fan base 😂
