Geocache Description:

Brookton History - Bonus Cache

Location Information

Background

Brookton was founded in the mid‑1800s by John Seabrook, who settled the area in 1846 and was later joined by other settlers drawn by sandalwood cutting, wheat growing and sheep farming. The opening of the Great Southern Railway in 1889 transformed Brookton into a service centre for surrounding farms, with the town formally established by the late 1890s and growing steadily through agriculture, particularly wheat, into the 20th century.

This Adventure Lab explores historical sights around the Brookton townsite.

Access

All Adventure Lab locations are 2WD accessible on sealed roads. The bonus cache site is 2WD accessible throughout most of the year via unsealed track from the Brookton Highway. There may be times where a 4WD is more appropriate. Towing vehicles and caravans are not recommended to access the bonus cache.
