I am a Senior Girl Scout working towards my gold award. I am an avid geocacher (this is a separate account I created for my gold award caches), and have been geocaching for 5 years. My Gold Award, Get Out!, is focused on getting people outside and teaching others about environmental safety and protection. This geocache is focused on learning how a compass is set up and works. This geocache is locked, and in order to open it up you will have to orient the lock in different directions. First turn the dial a few times clockwise to set up the lock. Then, line up the number 1 with the arrow around the ring of numbers, this arrow represents North (0 degrees). Now turn the dial CLOCKWISE until the number one is facing due west (270 degrees). Now, turn the dial COUNTERCLOCKWISE until the number 1 points due south (180 degrees), pull to open.
