Geocache Description:

Failt erriu dys Purt le Moirrey - Welcome to Port St Mary

The first stop on the steam railway if you’re heading North, less than a mile from the Port Erin terminus, or the penultimate stop heading South.

The station lies on the outskirts of the village, with the original timber structure being opened on 1st August 1874. The impressive two-storey red brick building you see today was later constructed by a local firm in 1898, and later joined by the goods shed behind in 1902. Whilst the station itself remains in use, the building no longer offers any passenger facilities as of 2014. However, right next door you can find The Station Hotel, traditional family pub.

This can be done as a cache and dash, or as part of a longer walk around the picturesque fishing village. Best not to park in the pub carpark, unless you plan to incorporate a visit, but there is plenty of parking round the village, particularly opposite the town hall.
