About Route 550
Route 550 was one of Sound Transit's original nine ST Express regional bus routes. The 550 was originally King County Metro route 226, which Sound Transit took over after the agency's creation. Today, the agency has more than twenty express bus routes in operation. The 550 is scheduled for retirement with the 2026 Fall Service change with the 2 Line Link Light Rail absorbing the passengers that the 550 used to carry. The 550 is operated under a contract with King County Metro.
Route 550 operates between Downtown Bellevue and Downtown Seattle. The route operates between 5am and 12:30am on weekdays with 15 minutes frequencies most of the day, 10 minute frequencies during peak periods, and 25-30 minute frequencies in the early morning and late night hours. On weekends, the route opperates between 6am and 12:30am with 15 minute frequencies most of the day, and 30 minute frequencies in the morning and evening, and late night hours.
Major destinations and points of interest along the route include Downtown Bellevue, Bellevue Transit Center, South Bellevue Station, Mercer Island Station, Mercer Island Park & Ride, King Street Station, and Downtown Seattle.
