Geocache Description:

You might want to bring some binoculars with you for this one.

At the posted coordinates, stand where the X is in the image below, next to the tree. If you do not stand on this exact location, it will be difficult to answer several of the questions below.

Answer the following multiple choice questions.

A. Face 77 degrees. Between you and the building in the distance, there is:

a) a gum tree (11)

b) a bridge (22)

c) an goshawk's nest (44)

d) a large warning sign (36)

e) a parking meter (17)

B. Face roughly SSE. Orientate yourself so that you are facing a cell tower in the distance. Between you and the cell tower can be seen:

a) trees (14)

b) a small jetty (21)

c) a large warning sign (28)

d) a bridge (35)

e) a surveyors marker (42)

C. Face NNW. What is right in front of you?

a) A redgum tree (2)

b) A bottlebrush tree (3)

c) A yellowbox tree (4)

d) A banksia tree (5)

e) A casuarina tree (6)

D) Look at the branch above you. Is it:

a) About 2m up, sticking straight out (91)

b) About 3m up, sloping gently upwards (93)

c) About 2m up, sloping a little downwards (95)

d) About 4m up, bending all over the place (97)

e) About 3m up, with a dog leg 0.8m from the tree trunk (99)

E. Face 307 degrees. Beyond (and a bit to the left of) the large sign there is a house in the distance. The house has cream-coloured walls, solar panels on the roof, and an evaporative cooler. What is the distance to the roof of this house from where you are standing?

a) 320m (320)

b) 290m (290)

c) 260m (260)

d) 230m (230)

e) 200m (200)

F. Face 266 degrees. There's something there, obscured by the trees, not far from the water. What is it?

a) A rusty old car (40)

b) A large warning sign (50)

c) A surveyor's hut (60)

d) A slippery slide (70)

e) The ruins of an 1860s house (80)

Let G = E x C + D x F + A x B (don't forget BODMAS, also known as the order of operations)

South minutes can be calculated as (G + 1354) / 1000

East minutes can be calculated as (G - 1034) / 1000

The south degrees are 35 and the east degrees are 149. GZ is inside the ACT.
