The fifth stage of the adventure brought the crew to The Captain’s Letterbox, a cache rumoured to contain messages from explorers who had passed through over many years. Pete became unusually emotional while reading the old notes, though this may have been because one of them mentioned free pie at a nearby tavern that had sadly closed decades earlier. Inside was a curious captain’s stamp, which Pete immediately tried stamping onto Kevin’s feathers before the parrot escaped by biting his ear. Inspired by the stories left behind, Pete carefully added his own message to the collection: “Captain Barnacle Pete was here, and he remains extremely handsome.”
