In order to log this EarthCache, you must answer the following questions correctly and then send the answers via the message center or my email.
At the coordinates you will find a horizontal quartz vein cutting through the bedrock that forms the base/seat of the Oraklet statue.
1) Feel the quartz vein and the surrounding rock. Is the vein surface smoother or rougher compared to the host rock? What might this indicate about its formation?
2) Estimate how many centimeters the fracture in the rock was that became filled to form the vein. What does this indicate about the process: is the quartz vein older or younger than the surrounding rock?
3) Is the quartz vein pure, meaning composed only of quartz? Justify your answer based on visible colors or color variations in the vein.
Attach a photo to your log, selfie or a photo of a paper with your nickname where your hand is visible, in order to prove your visit to the EarthCache. However, make sure that the answers cannot be estimated from the photograph.
Thanks for the visit!
