The Legend of Eric
Eric was a proud fishing boat that sailed the South African coast for decades, weathering storms and bringing home countless catches. His captain, an old fisherman named Oom Piet, swore Eric had a soul that the boat knew when fish were near.
When Oom Piet passed, his family couldn't bear to see Eric rot at the harbour. So they hauled him inland and planted him in the park, saying the old boat deserved to rest somewhere people could enjoy him.
Now Eric watches over the neighbourhood and rumour has it, anything grown in his shadow thrives like it was pulled straight from the sea.
(This is a fictional story created for fun, if you know the real history of Eric, I would love to hear it!)
