This cache is placed next to one of the bridges of Dudley Creek, very close to the confluence point of St Albans Creek joining it. You have already visited this location if you have done my AdLab/Multi/Mystery cache From Swamp to Suburbs: St Albans. I considered hiding the final for it here but chose to go with another spot that allowed a larger sized cache. However, Dudley Creek and this confluence point still deserve a cache of their own. There is a rest area with benches across the road and you can often observe some birdlife around the creeks.

Dudley Creek begins in Bishopdale, crossing into Papanui under Greers Road. It then continues to Blighs Road, bypasses both the old Papanui Police Station and Telephone Exchange before flowing east under Papanui Road. Flowing towards Mairehau the creek is joined by Papanui Stream not long before ducking under Cranford St. Just south of Walter Park it is joined by Bullers Stream that is piped into it from under the park. Dudley crosses Innes Rd and flows parallel to Hills Rd for a while on the course to Shirley. Eventually crosses right beneath the intersection of Hills/Shirley Roads and winds its way to Stapletons Road where it's joined by Shirley Stream. Then it reaches the point you are standing now, is joined by St Albans Creek and after leaving Stapletons Road our creek flows towards North Parade and meanders right along Banks Avenue. Many houses have small bridges as part of their driveways along the way.
Dudley Creek ends at River Road where it flows into the Ōtākaro Avon River, and this end of the creek is tidal.
In 2017 there was a major $48m flood risk reduction project carried out in the area that included construction of the "Dudley Creek Bypass" - about 800m of boxed concrete culverts running below Petrie, Randall and Medway streets, with height adjustable inlet and a viewing platform and outlet into the Avon straight off Medway St. The bypass is only used during flood events when the water is high enough to overtop the inlet wall.
