The Buffalo Crossing Visitor Centre was the regional winner (North America) in the 2025 Holcim Foundation's Sustainable Foundation awards, based on its environmentally responsible architecture on a post-industrial site. FortWhyte Alive joined 166 countries from five global regions with projects displaying four goals - healthy planet, thriving communities, uplifting places and viable economics - and three guiding principles - holistic, transformational and transferable design. Other regional winners for 2025 included the Green Historic Maze in Qalandiya, Palestinian Territories and Zando Central Market, Kinshasa, DRC.
