Perched above the coast near Prostovoljno gasilsko društvo Hrvatini, this cache will lead you to one of the finest hidden viewpoints overlooking Koper and the shimmering Adriatic beyond.
A short walk brings you to an awesome bench — the perfect place to pause, catch your breath, and enjoy the panoramic scenery stretching from the city rooftops to the sea. Day or night, the view here has a special atmosphere: peaceful, open, and well worth the visit.
But this spot is not only about the view — it also sits beside a place with deep local history. Prostovoljno gasilsko društvo Hrvatini was founded in 1956, when the village roads were poor and the nearest firefighters from Koper needed over 30 minutes to arrive in an emergency. The locals decided to create their own volunteer brigade, and only a few months later they proved their worth by helping stop a major fire in the village using little more than ladders, buckets, and teamwork.
Fun fact: the firefighters here are also connected to the traditional Istrian game “pandolo,” a centuries-old bat-and-stick game similar to street baseball. The PGD Hrvatini team even competes under the name “MIMOZA,” and the society is listed as one of the official keepers of this cultural heritage.
Another fun fact: during earthquakes in the 1970s and again in 1999, members of the brigade traveled across Slovenia to help affected communities. Over the decades they have grown into an important part of the coastal firefighting network and today help protect thousands of people across Hrvatini, Ankaran, and nearby areas.
The cache is hidden nearby, blending naturally into its surroundings, so please search carefully and return everything exactly as found. Stealth may be required occasionally, especially when locals stop by to enjoy the same spectacular vista.
