Geocache Description:

HBUSA started in 2018 with 204 geocaches published in Michigan. This year we hope to surpass 250 caches and events to celebrate America's semiquincentennial!

There is nothing of geocaching interest at the posted coordinates, do NOT go there!

Your wherigo task

This is a Play Anywhere Wherigo. No zones. You can play it from the comfort of your home.

Your task is to recognize American composers based on presented fragments of their music pieces. This is a common cartridge for all six geocaches in this mini-series - in the end you'll receive final coordinates for all of them.

Here are all 6 geocaches in this mini-series:

HB250 - Dave Brubeck

HB250 - George Gershwin

HB250 - Glenn Miller

HB250 - John Williams

HB250 - Leonard Bernstein

HB250 - Scott Joplin

George Gershwin was an American composer and pianist whose work bridged classical music, jazz, and popular song. Rising from New York’s Tin Pan Alley, he created enduring pieces like Rhapsody in BlueAn American in Paris, and the folk opera Porgy and Bess, as well as Broadway hits with his brother Ira, including “I Got Rhythm” and “Embraceable You.” His innovative fusion defined a distinctly American sound before his untimely death at 38.

The Wherigo Player

Don't have a wherigo player? All you need to play the cartridge is a smart phone or a wherigo compatible GPSr. The Garmin Colorado and Oregon series up through the 550 are compatible. For the smartphones you can download one of the players here:

For the iPhone - click here for the Wherigo player.

For the Android Smartphone - click here for the WhereYouGo app.
If you have issues with Samsung Galaxy S2x phone, downloading and playing the cartridge, look up GC forum thread here.
Additionally, Geooh GOc:geo and GCDroid/WheriDroid Android apps have also integrated wherigo players.

You need to play the cartridge on a device that can play sound.

The cartridge has been tested without problems with GCDroid/WheriDroid, WhereYouGo and iPhone Wherigo player. With Geooh GO, wait until the tune stops playing by itself, then give your answer - there is a bug in their player somewhere.

Some Q&A:

What exactly IS Wherigo?

Wherigo is a platform that allows you to build location based GPS experiences on your computer and play them in the real world; you actually walk from one location to the next to advance the story.

What is a Wherigo cartridge?

A Wherigo cartridge is a file that contains all the information and media necessary to play a Wherigo experience. We call them cartridges as an homage to the original console-based games.

What is a Wherigo cache?

A Wherigo cache uses the Wherigo cartridge format (i.e. use of zones, characters and/or items) to lead the player to a physical geocache. If a Wherigo cartridge is used as a requirement to find a geocache, it is considered a Wherigo cache regardless of whether it has a puzzle or multi-cache component.

What is the difference between a Wherigo cartridge and a Wherigo cache?

A Wherigo cache includes a physical geocache component and is cross listed on both Wherigo.com and Geocaching.com. A regular Wherigo cartridge contains no physical cache and is only listed on Wherigo.com.

Good luck and happy caching!
