Time for our fifteenth Annual CITO event to help clean up the environment we love so much! Without these Open Spaces, where would we hide our caches? In lamp posts??? The previous CITO Events here were great successes. Let's make this one even better!
Columbine Open Space
Normally, we'd be heading it up with the help of natural resource specialist, Jackie. But she's retired and we'll have someone else from the county come to help out. Let's show them how awesome we are at being land stewards!
This event will begin at 1:00pm, and go until 3:00pm
Meet up at 1:00 for some quick instructions, then go on your Mullein massacre or trash cleanup.
Bring all trash bags back to GZ by 2:40pm, and we'll have a FREE drawing at 2:45pm.
Any help taking trash to the county dumpster is greatly appreciated (but not required).
We will be focusing on Mullein Removal this year, and if we have enough volunteers, we will also continue to clean the frontage road that we've worked on previously. For those who have been coming, there is a NOTICEABLE difference in the park from what we have removed, thanks! We always have to walk further and further to find mullein we haven't removed. We will clean up for a few hours (but please come even if you can only stay a little), and then meet up at the picnic shelter for some raffle prizes.
Provided: Trash bags and (maybe) snacks by Douglas County Open Space (DCOS), and raffle prizes provided by hosts. Jackie was awesome, and we'll see if the tradition continues.
Bring: Yourself, your family, your friends, ready to work! Gloves, extra water and snacks, shovel or weeding tools if you have any, jeans are recommended too.
Waivers will need to be signed, and will be provided on site. Any minors will need a waiver signed by the parent or guardian as well.
Please RSVP so I can plan ahead. Many hands make light work!
