Geocache Description:

National Tessellation Day:  created to honor the mathematical and artistic beauty of tiling flat planes with repeating geometric patterns that can repeat in all directions indefinitely with no gaps or overlaps.  Celebrated on June 17, the birthday of Dutch artist M.C. Escher who pioneered interlocking animal and human silhouettes in his work.  There are three different types of tessellations: regular (regular polygons), semi-regular (two or more types of regular polygons), and irregular tessellations (aren't regular polygons).  Only three regular polygons—triangles, squares, and hexagons—can form tessellations by themselves.  A chain link fence, hexagonal beehive cells, houndstooth check weaving pattern, checkers/chess board, pineapple skin, turtle shells, fish scales

Join us at McDonalds, 2750  W 104th Ave, Federal Heights, CO, from 9AM to 10AM, Wednesday,  June 17th for coffee, tea, breakfast,  laughter, and geocaching camaraderie.  Small TBs for discovery or moving on are always welcome.  McDonalds sells food and beverages for your consumption, but purchase is not required to attend. Come on out, we love to see new cachers and seasoned cachers.  All are welcome.
