Geocache Description:

Captain Barnacle Pete Explores Naseby

Village Hall Series 1891 - Naseby

(the cache is not at the listed coordinates)

Captain Barnacle Pete found the latest item of interest whilst rummagin’ through a dusty sea chest rescued from a recent shipwreck. Hidden amongst the salt-stained maps and biscuit crumbs, Pete uncovered a weathered journal filled with curious sketches of a village hall. Convinced he had discovered the headquarters of a long-forgotten pirate society, the captain immediately declared himself "Chief Investigator o' Suspicious Buildings." Kevin the parrot pointed out that Pete once mistook a bus shelter fer a treasure vault, but the captain chose to ignore such details. Rumour has it the crafty captain may also have hidden an extra hint within another nearby cache fer those sharp-eyed adventurers willing to seek it out.

Naseby Village Hall stands on the outskirts of the village and has served the local community for many years. It was also the home port of Piratemania in 2023, when geocachers from far and wide gathered in Naseby for a weekend of adventure. Located within the historic village best known for its connection to the Battle of Naseby, the hall remains an important part of village life today.

With Kevin circling overhead and offering entirely unhelpful advice, Captain Barnacle Pete set off to investigate the village hall in search of the mysterious clues mentioned within the journal. After carefully examining several flower pots, interrogating a perfectly innocent bench, and becoming briefly convinced the village noticeboard was part of an elaborate pirate code, the captain finally realised the answer lay not in secret symbols or hidden messages, but in carefully observing the village hall itself. Yer mission be simple, mateys: count what ye can see from the stated coordinates and use the correct destination to continue yer hunt fer treasure.

Gather Yer Clues and Chart Yer Course

  • Stand at the stated coordinates and look directly towards Naseby Village Hall (count only the visible front windows facing you).
    • If ye see 4 windows - then these be what ye need N 52° 23.710 W 0° 59.373
    • If ye see 5 windows - then these be what ye need N 52° 23.590 W 0° 59.223
    • If ye see 6 windows - then these be what ye need N 52° 24.113 W 0° 58.991

May the winds guide yer compass true, mateys... fer Captain Barnacle Pete swears the treasure shall only reveal itself to those sharp enough to count what others sail straight past!
