Geocache Description:

Monday 15 June 2026:  10H00 till 11H00

"Friends of Batavia Street Fynbos Area" who is now officialy acknowledged by the city has made a big difference with the help of geocachers and other friends in regards to the clearing and maintenance of invasive species.

I walk the area weekly and can see the difference made from when we started untill now.  In April we did the left flank and in May the right.

After the May CITO it was clear that we need to keep it up, but one can tell that the effort we have putting in is paying off.

This CITO should be similar to the one before.  We will be litter picking and be on the look out for young plants with an effort to save ourselves bags full of fully grown plants in the months to come.

This time there will be an additional re introduction of some species and hopefully the rains will play its part and come sooner rather than later to come water our plantings.

It will be a late start compared to other CITO's here, but last time out we realised what a difference the sun rise makes.  Being only an hour I dont foresee temperatures being to much of a problem.  Do however bring a sun hat and drinks if you think you may need it.

Plastic bags (with compliment of CoCT) will be supplied.
