Join us at Pickering Park to celebrate the 12th War Memorial Series Day on 1 July 2026. This year marks the 12th anniversary of the War Memorial Series, which began in 2014.
This will be a relaxed, social meet‑up where we can chat about geocaching and the War Memorial Series, share stories and experiences, discover and exchange trackables, and take a quiet moment to reflect at the memorial.
All attendees will be able to add the special 2026 War Memorial Series celebration badge to their geocaching profile. For 2026, if you find or place a War Memorial Series cache, or host/attend a War Memorial Day event on 1st July, 2026.

Where – Pickering Park (near the Falklands Memorial bench)
We will meet at the picnic table located close to the Falklands Task Force memorial bench in Pickering Park, Hull. This provides a comfortable and accessible place for the social meet‑up, while still being within sight of the memorial.
The Falklands memorial bench commemorates those connected with Hull and the Falklands conflict of 1982, and bears the powerful inscription:
“FROM THE SEA FREEDOM”
During the event, participants are welcome to visit the memorial, read the inscription, and take a quiet moment of reflection. Please treat the memorial and its surroundings with respect at all times.
There is parking available in the vicinity of Pickering Park, and pedestrian access from the surrounding streets.

About the Falklands Memorial
The Falklands memorial bench in Pickering Park is dedicated to those who served in the Falklands Task Force (1982), with a particular connection to Hull and the Merchant Navy. It stands as a reminder of the sacrifices made during the conflict and the importance of freedom secured “from the sea”.
During the event, participants will have the opportunity to see the memorial up close and read the inscription. Please treat the memorial and its surroundings with respect at all times.

The War Memorial Series is a national themed series of geocaches placed close to war memorials across the United Kingdom. The series began on 1 July 2014, and since 2018 an unofficial profile badge has been available each year for those who: find a War Memorial Series cache, or attend/host a War Memorial Day event around the series’ anniversary.
In 2026, if you place or find a War Memorial Series cache, or host/attend a War Memorial Day event 1st July 2026, you qualify for the War Memorial Badge 2026.
