Kirken havde fra begyndelsen to indgangsdøre.
Østgavlen fremstår udvendig i nogenlunde original stand.

ENGLISH
The church is dedicated to St. Maurice and was mentioned as early as 1227 in a Latin document from Bishop Thurø of Ribe. In the 1660s, the church came under the Schackenborg estate until it became its own master in 1930. The church is remarkably large relative to the size of Daler parish, which encompasses the villages of Daler, Gærup, and Østerby.
Originally, the church consisted of a Romanesque chancel and nave, built from granite blocks. The masonry to the north and south was extensively renovated in 1776. From the beginning, the church featured two entrance doors: a southern entrance for the men and a northern one for the women. Inside the nave, you can clearly see where the south door was located, and in the northern wall, opposite the men's door, traces of the former women's door can still be seen.
In the late 13th century, the chancel was extended to the east. The exterior of the east gable remains in more or less its original condition, featuring, among other things, a bricked-up round-arched window. The gable was whitewashed until the restoration in the 1980s, when the masonry was exposed.
During the Late Gothic period (1400–1550), the church was added to with a porch to the north and a tower to the west. It is assumed that the chancel was vaulted at the same time. The square tower with pointed gables features an octagonal spire covered in oak shingles.
