Inglis Island is part of the Marjorie Harris Carr Cross Florida Greenway, parks and trails and green spaces that were created on the lands of the discontinued Cross Florida Barge Canal project. Inglis Island sits in the center of three bodies of water--the Withlacoochee River, the never completed Cross Florida Barge Canal and Lake Rousseau. Enjoy the 7.6 miles of multi-use natural surface trails available on the Island that are shared by Equestrians, hikers and cyclists, along with deer, turkey, bobcat, spiders, and various species of birds and reptiles (like snakes and alligators) are often seen here. The natural surface trails are mostly exposed to the sun so bringing sun protection is advised. It’s also recommended to bring water, snacks and using bug/tick/chigger spray. You might find a bench along these trails and no facilities along the natural surface trails.
