Laiuse Vabadussõja mälestussammas avati esmakordselt 30. augustil 1925.
Samba kavandi valmistas A.Starkopf.
Sammas lõhuti juulis 1941. Saksa okupatsiooni ajal sammas taastati ning hävitati punavõimude poolt 1954.
Hävitatud sammas kujutas endast kreeka stiilis templit. Kaheastmelisel aluselt tõusid kuus kanneleeritud dooria sammast, mille peal oli üleval astmeliselt koonduv massiivne plaat. Sammaste vahel oli orv, kus tahvel hukkunute nimedega ja sarkofaag langenud sõduri kujuga.
Samas kohas avati 22. veebruaril 1998 uus sammas, mis ei sarnanenud varasemaga.

The Laiuse War of Independence monument was first unveiled on August 30, 1925. The monument was designed by A. Starkopf. It was destroyed in July 1941. During the German occupation, the monument was restored, only to be destroyed again by the Soviet authorities in 1954.
The destroyed monument depicted a Greek-style temple. Six fluted Doric columns rose from a two-tiered base, topped by a massive plate that tapered upward in steps. Between the columns was a recess containing a plaque with the names of the fallen and a sarcophagus featuring the figure of a fallen soldier.
On February 22, 1998, a new monument was unveiled in the same location, which did not resemble the original one.
