Geocache Description:

Traralgon Station opened in 1885 to passenger and freight steam locomotives from Melbourne. It received many upgrades over the years as Traralgon grew, such as platform lengthening, new station buildings, and eventually, the closure of the freight yard. The current station building was opened in 1995, and the accessible pedestrian overpass was completed in 2023. Traralgon Station no longer accepts freight trains but runs two services to and from Traralgon; to Bairnsdale, and to Southern Cross.

Near Platform 1 is an information board detailing more about the station’s history with a timeline and historical images.

The old station building on the Platform 2 side of the tracks currently houses the Traralgon & District Art Society Inc. art studio and gallery. Next to the all-day parking is the Victorian Railways Institute (VRI) Hall. The VRI no longer lease the building, but it is still available for the community to hire the space for events and clubs.

The cache you’re looking for is a black micro magnetic cache. Please place it back where you found it! You may need tweezers to pry out the very snug log.

Beware of train passengers nearby and keep geokids safe near the platform!

Congrats Kashbound for being FTF! 14/06/2026
