Geocache Description:

A beautiful stop on your way to the Valley of the Giants!

There are many small cascades and whitewater rapids along the upper stretch of the North Fork of the Siletz River that make for beautiful scenery.  This location has a nice waterfall on the order of 10 to 15 feet in height.  It is not offically listed on the "Northwest Waterfall Survey" website or identified on the USGS topographic map.  Maybe we should call it "Cacher's Falls"?

The cache is located in a five trunked maple tree, well above ground level.  The tree is four steps from the edge of the roadway.  Picture included ... if you looked before loosing service:)  Be careful making your last step as beyond that the slope drops steeply to the river!

As always drive carefully, yielding to logging trucks (which are generally not present on weekends).  Follow all posted rules and regulations in the Stott Mountain Travel Management Area.  The area contains privately owned and managed forest lands that may be gated off during high fire danger season.  You can call the Salem area BLM at 503-375-5646 to check.  Also let someone know where you are going and when you will return.
