A simple traditional cache located at the Cape Campbell Lighthouse. There was previously a multi at the lighthouse, but this cache is no longer there. We have always enjoyed it out here and thought it was worth placing another cache here again.
The lighthouse was previously only accessable at low tides prior to the 2016 Kaikōura Earthquake, but thanks to the coastal uplift it is now accessible at all but the highest of high tides.
It is a pleasant 1.5-2 hour walk one way (3-4 hours return including finding the cache and looking around the coastline) along the coastline to the lighthouse from the Marfells Beach DOC Campground (Parking Waypoint). There is no road access to the lighthouse.
The Cape Campbell Lighthouse is accessable to the public, through crossing an easement of private land. Visitors are asked to adhere to the signs on the fence.
The cache is located at the top of the stairs leading up to the lighthouse, and detailed in the hint below. There is also a spoiler photo - we'd hate for you to get there and not find it! Please replace it carefully to ensure this cache's longevity!
