They say location is everything, certainly true for this roadside diner which is the only place in quite a while to pee and get a burger. It's been here for a very long time. The food is actually fine, even the vegan burger.
And Staðarskáli means "Location house" or "Place house", as this is a house at the place called Staður. Staður means a place or location. Our ancestors sure knew how to name places. There is even a place somwhere called Staðarstaður - "Place-place" or "Place of a place."
The cache is near a memorial about the old days postmen who risked their lives getting mail between different parts of the country. No easy feat in the old days, on horseback, but so important in a big country with lots of distance and difficult terrains between farms and towns.
