Welcome to the newest trail in the city (for now) - the East Don trail has finally opened after years of delays. Connecting visitors from the Taylor-Massey Creek area to Eglinton and Bermondsey, near the Meadowway, this trail cuts through the Don Valley's eastern branch, and contains a few neat areas created out of building in this existing area.
One particular challenge for this project was grading, and how to build a trail over the river when one side of the river was higher than the other. The solution? Building a large looping ramp to bring visitors down to the forest floor of the valley from the hillside on the east side of the river. Or, to put it another way, a Cage wherein man and machine travel in tandem to get from point A to point B. The whirring screech travelling throughout this structure as one travels through this big cage.
But there is a little secret here, a hidden away stash from the machines. I ask of you one question? Well, two. First, can you find it? And...
