I was wandering around Downsview Park when I realized how few caches were here and that we don't even have a SideTracked series cache! So I decided to fix that since this is a beautiful area to explore.

Dowsview park station was born in 2017 with the opening of the Toronto–York Spadina subway extension. The expansion added 6 new stations northwest of previous end of Line 1 (Downsview station) in order to connect Toronto with the city of Vaughan in York Region. Initially it was expected to open in time for the 2015 Pan American Games, the extension went overbudget and opened two years after the original planned date.
While this was an exciting new connection to the beautiful Downsview Park, it caused a new problem because the TTC worried having "Downsview" and "Downsview Park" would cause some confusion for customers and decided to rename the existing station to Sheppard West. The renaming cost $800,000 and was largely spent on updating the TTC automated announcement system and destination signs.
