Geocache Description:

1. No painel 11, qual é a orientação dos estilólitos? (Escolhe a imagem correcta abaixo.)

2. No painel 13, qual é a orientação dos estilólitos? (Escolhe a imagem correcta abaixo.)

3. No painel 15, qual é a orientação dos estilólitos? (Escolhe a imagem correcta abaixo.)
Mandem as respostas antes de registar. Obrigado.

Pressure welds are grain-to-grain contacts produced during compaction or deformation where adjacent mineral grains become tightly interlocked through pressure-solution processes. Dissolution occurs at highly stressed grain contacts, often forming stylolites or stylolitic seams, while dissolved material is transported and reprecipitated elsewhere. As pressure solution progresses, grain boundaries become sutured and the grains may appear effectively "welded" together.
In iron formations, quartzites, and many metamorphosed sedimentary rocks, pressure welds are often recognized microscopically as stylolitic grain boundaries, serrated contacts, or interpenetrating quartz grains that record significant compaction and mass transfer during deformation.

Logging this EC:

At the coordinates, face the wall of the buiding to the right of the garage entrance. Focus on panels 11, 13 and 15 as in the picture below:

Here answer the following questions based on the images below:
1- In panel 11, how are the stylolites orientated? (Choose the correct image below):
2- In panel 13, how are the stylolites orientated? (Choose the correct image below):
3- In panel 15, how are the stylolites orientated? (Choose the correct image below):
Send the answers before logging. Thanks.

aThe most exciting way to learn about the Earth and its processes is to get into the outdoors and experience it first-hand. Visiting an Earthcache is a great outdoor activity the whole family can enjoy. An Earthcache is a special place that people can visit to learn about a unique geoscience feature or aspect of our Earth. Earthcaches include a set of educational notes and the details about where to find the location (latitude and longitude). Visitors to Earthcaches can see how our planet has been shaped by geological processes, how we manage the resources and how scientists gather evidence to learn about the Earth.
