Wolverhampton Station is a regional interchange on the Birmingham Loop of the West Coast Main Line.
It was opened in 1852 by the Birmingham, Wolverhampton and Stour Valley Railway as Wolverhampton Queen Street. The only visible part remaining of the original building is the Queen's Building, which was the carriage entrance to the station and opened in 1849.
It was renamed as Wolverhampton High Level in June 1885 when OWWR opened the nearby Wolverhampton Low Level Station.
The building was rebuilt in 1964 as part of a modernisation project to electrify the West Coast Main Line. At which time most services moved from the Low Level station. In the 1980's a new northbound platform was built and the present platform 5 converted from parcels to passenger use.
On 7 May 1973 it was renamed again, this time to Wolverhampton
In 2004, a new through platform (no 4) was constructed to replace infrequently used sidings.
Work to redevelop the station began in 2018, with the new station fully opened in 2021.
