This cache is located towards the northwest corner of Coronation Park. The eight-acre area was originally known as the Norwood ball grounds, but by the 1930s was commonly (though informally) used as a local dump. Thankfully, by 1937 it was formally converted to a public park, opening on Coronation Day to coincide with the coronation of King George VI. The war memorial to the southeast of this geocache was added in 1947, honouring those who served in the First World War and Second World War – and later in the Korean War as well. An outdoor stage is located next to the memorial, hosting live concerts, Festival du Voyageur events, and other community activities.
