Geocache Description:

Welcome to the hamlet of Carvel!
While quiet today, this historic hamlet was once a bustling prairie hub along the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway.
📜 A Glimpse into Carvel's Past
Named around 1908 during the expansion of the railway west of Edmonton, Carvel quickly grew into an essential service stop for local homesteaders and travelers alike. At its peak in the early 20th century, Carvel was home to:
A thriving train station that linked rural farming families to larger trade markets.
A post office and blacksmith shop, serving as the operational heart of the surrounding agricultural community.
The Historic Carvel General Store: First built around 1914 on its original site, the store was actually moved across the road to better align with the newly built railway station. Tragically, that original structure burned down just a year later, but was rebuilt in 1918. Today, the general store remains one of the most recognizable historic landmarks in Parkland County!
As transportation shifted toward highways and larger centers, the busy railway days faded, but Carvel retained its quiet charm, rich roots, and strong sense of community heritage.
